Menasha Young Writers’ Camp (Grades 3-5)

What’s included:

  • Free writing
  • Developing writing stamina and skills within different types of writing
  • Incorporating our lives and environment into writing
  • Sharing ideas as readers and writers
  • Receiving feedback to help improve writing
  • Exploring how authors develop their craft
  • Celebrating progress as writers

This camp will be run in conjunction with morning summer school. Students who would like to attend summer school may stay for lunch and then attend Young Writers’ Camp.

Staff Notes

Katie Fugar is currently a fourth grade teacher for the Menasha Joint School District. Throughout her career she has taught grades 2-5. Katie has also been involved with the Fox Valley Writing Project. She finds joy in reading and writing and loves sharing that joy with children. Katie loves working with young readers and writers to develop their skills and love for literacy.

Nichole Ponzer is a literacy coach in the Menasha Join School District. Previously, she taught grades 4 and 5. Nichole is a member of the Fox Valley Writing Project Leadership Team and Wisconsin State Reading Association Elementary Reading Committee. Nichole is a voracious reader and loves nothing more than matching readers to their next favorite book. She is excited about the opportunity to spend time writing with students and developing their joy for writing.
