Fox
Valley Writing Project Opportunities
The
FVWP's annual events promote and provide writing experiences
for teachers and students. Many offerings are available
at reasonable costs through partial funding with project
grants. Given the value of the experiences, many participants
return, realizing the personal and professional growth gained.
Join us for enriching writing opportunities available through
the Fox Valley Writing Project's annual offerings.
Professional
Development
Each
year the Fox Valley Writing Project sponsors events in a
variety of formats for professional development. These range
from book clubs to after school and/or weekend writing curriculum
development classes. Check out our latest offerings. The
project plans workshops and classes that support your school's
needs and curriculum. Contact
us to partner with your district in developing professional
development opportunities in your schools.
Four FVWP Teacher Consultants traveled to Babson College in Wellesley, MA, Massachusettes July 11-16 to attend the Reading, Writing and Content Area Teachers Institute. (Left to Right, Front Row: Barb Novak, Literacy Coach Oshkosh Area School District; Lyn Bub, High School Biology, Neenah Joint School District. Back Row: Lori Menning, High School ELL/Bilingual, New London; Reenie Tetzlaff, High School English, Neenah Joint School District.)
This team shared their vision of our site’s project (see photo of tri-fold) at the Institute and are preparing a proposal to NWP to support an ongoing professional development opportunity for FVWP Summer Institute Fellows who are high school content area teachers. More news on this exciting professional development opportunity as it becomes available!!
Reading
and Writing Conference
Each
fall a combined reading and writing conference is offered
to area educators. At past conferences
Linda Reif, Barry Lane, Katie Wood Ray, and Ralph Fletcher
have inspired educators to develop their writing and teaching
skills. Attendees have wonderful
things to say about past events. This
fall's conference features Dr. Jan Strop, Cardinal Stritch University, giving the keynote: Multimedia: Changing the Shape of Engagement and Learning.
Young
Writers' Camps
Young Writers' Camps have been sponsored through Fox Valley Writing Project for six years.
These two week camps for students entering sixth through tenth grade include interactions with like minded
students along with published authors. A final camp publication
includes works
from each young writer.
Spring
Fling
Last
year Fox Valley Writing Project held our second Spring Fling Writing Conference. Writing workshops and presentations for
elementary, middle, and high school levels attracted area
teachers to attend this economical event. Ellen Kort's poetry
was featured at a luncheon keynote and afternoon writing
session. Our 2009 Spring Fling will be held on March 7.
